A photographic based work entered in the 2010 Kodak Salon Awards. I wanted to push the notions of contemporary photography away from high-end production and investigate the materials and effects of integrating photographs with mixed media installation. Fish Still Alive is a work that speaks to the current climate events of BP oil-well disaster and the way we, humans, interact with the ocean and the delicate eco-systems it beholds. The image was taken on a holiday trip to the Great Barrier Reef - and I found the most interesting image I took wasn't actually of the fish, but the way we, the snorkellers, looked as we became part of this serene scene whilst this distaster was taking place on the otherside of the world.
